01A CLEARER WAY FORWARD
A useful listing explains the work or playing opportunity, where it happens, who it suits and how to apply. Clear expectations help both sides decide whether to continue.
Use a recognizable title, sport, level and location instead of a vague call for talent.
State the timeframe, expected schedule and whether the opportunity is paid or voluntary.
Specify the application channel, requested evidence and closing date when there is one.
Confirm who is responsible for the opening and who can answer enquiries. Separate essential requirements from preferences so applicants can judge the fit. Describe the team or programme, expected responsibilities and the support available without promising outcomes you cannot guarantee.
Be explicit about location, travel expectations and the intended start and end dates. Explain compensation, expenses and any applicant costs in plain language. If a detail is undecided, say what is still to be confirmed and when applicants can expect an answer.
This example is a drafting checklist, not a claim that every field exists in a posting form. Put the relevant details in the available description fields and follow the platform’s rules.
[Role / position] — [Club or organisation] — [Location] About the opportunity [Sport, team or programme, level and reason for the opening] What you will do [Main responsibilities or playing expectations] Practical details [Dates, schedule, location and travel] [Paid / voluntary status, compensation and expenses] Requirements Essential: [Requirements tied to the role] Helpful: [Preferences] How to apply [Application channel and requested information] [Closing date and time zone, if applicable] [Contact for questions and expected next step]
Ask someone unfamiliar with the role to read the draft. Can they tell whether they are eligible, what commitment is expected and how to apply? Replace promotional phrases with practical information wherever those questions remain unanswered.
Request only information relevant to the application. Explain the next step, such as a conversation or assessment, without implying that an application guarantees selection. Once the opening changes or closes, update the listing promptly and let active applicants know through the agreed contact channel.

COMMON QUESTIONS
They can share a structure, but the responsibilities and evidence requested should differ. A player opening may ask for position and footage; a coaching role may ask for relevant experience and qualifications.
Say that applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and explain when the listing will be updated. Avoid displaying an old deadline or leaving a filled role presented as open.
Ask for the minimum evidence needed to assess the role, such as a current profile, CV or relevant footage. State the preferred format and channel so people do not have to guess.
